Back Fractured After a Traffic Accident, Walked Again After Surgery!

After a car accident in Batumi on January 17, 2020, 22-year-old Bachana Gogmachadze was severely injured in his legs and became bedridden. One month later, he came to Medical Park Ordu Hospital. Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Birol Gürler at Medical Park Ordu Hospital stated that Bachana Gogmachadze, who had a traffic accident last January, was diagnosed with a “spinal (lumbar) fracture and spinal cord injury.” He explained that the patient with a spinal fracture was taken to surgery immediately upon admission, and the first intervention was made to the fractured vertebra, preventing further damage.

Dr. Birol Gürler added: “While repairing the spinal fracture, we used screws and metal rods. One day after surgery, our patient stood up and could move his legs. By the end of the third day, he started controlled walking. He got rid of his pain and returned to his country in good health. We continue follow-ups by phone; our patient is happy.”
